Job Purpose  (State in one sentence the overall objective of the job)

The Senior Project Manager has overall responsibility for executing the project scope according to Business and Technical requirements (URS) within the approved cost and schedule, whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant GMP, Safety and Environmental requirements.


Major Accountabilities  (Describe the main results of the job to be achieved )

·         In consultation with the Project Director and Head Engineering Solids, establishes the key User Requirements and critical to success criteria for the project

·         Leads the development of the User Requirements and critical to success criteria into a the basis of the Project scope and commensurate timelines and budgets

·         Ensures that the Safety of individuals is given the highest priority and is seen to set the site Safety agenda.  Is an active Sponsor of Site Safety and zero harm policies

·         Establishes the project team organizational structure and modifies accordingly during the phases of project execution

·         Identifies key project members and leads their recruitment as appropriate liaising with the Project Director and relevant line management functions

·         Leads the capital project team and sets their overall objectives in line with the Project requirements

·         Delegates responsibility to project team members, especially to the Technical Project Managers, Project Controls Manager and Project Sourcing Lead

·         Nominates the project engineering team together with the Technical Project Manager and the discipline leads

·         Establishes means, methods and tools for the project execution (project structure, CAE-systems, controls, etc.) and ensures necessary communication within the project organization and with the parties external to the project team

·         Establishes the execution control schedule and commensurate cost control budget

·         Ensures adequate monitoring and control of the execution schedule and cost forecasting

·         Ensures that the appropriate level of Risk Management is applied and maintained during the execution phase of the project to provide visibility of potential risks and transparency regarding potential opportunities

·         Ensures adequate reporting (Project Progress Report (PPR))

·         Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of procurement and accounting

·         Ensures elaboration of Project Procedure Manual (PPM) and of URS together with the Project Director

·         Is responsible for the CAR elaboration and presents the requests together with the Project Director to the approval authorities. The same is valid for the formal project closure and the hand over to the user

·         Is responsible for the execution of safety stops, risk analyses, construction site safety and correct management of authority issues (together with authority contact office)

·         Ensures readiness for inspections together with quality organizations

·         Is responsible for the hand over incl. documentation to the user organization.


Key Performance Indicators  (Indicate how performance will be measured: indicators, activities…)


·         Site Safety Metrics at or below Industry average

·         No significant observations in external regulatory inspections

·         Achieving delivery of the Project within the funding constraints (< 110% of funding)

·         Achieving OQ completion of final critical path system within + / - 1 month of final baseline schedule (as agreed with Steering committee)

·         Project delivered with minimal re-work / disruption in post OQ activities (resulting from latent deficiencies from the project delivery phases)

Suitable candidate must have manufacturing plant experience. Establish, implement & maintain EHS Management Systems such as SS 506 Part 3, ISO 14001. Ensure that documentations & records of EHS Management Systems are in good condition and are ready for audits when need be. Monitor changes in regulatory regulations and update the business on the affected changes, risks and potential impacts. Conduct periodic evaluation of compliance for the site. Coordinate & facilitate internal audits, management reviews. Monitor and facilitate proper closure of follow up action items such as internal audits, external audits, safety inspections, PHA recommendations, safety observations etc. Monitor and facilitate the proper closure of incident reporting and the necessary corrective & preventive follow up actions items. Advise the site for all related EHS compliance legal requirements. Support EHS Manager in managing records for manufacturing plant site. Establish training requirements, establish training materials and provide trainings to site personnel for EHS Management systems matters.
